Gym Cracks By Jim November 18, 2002 2 FOR 2 Despite rough seasons for both "my" teams, they're undefeated in person By Jim (Babe) Berryman MissingNebraska.com Western Nebraska I saw two college football games this fall. Both games were played in ideal weather and "my" team won both games. A high school friend and I saw the Wyoming Cowboys upset the Air Force Academy Falcons in Laramie on a beautiful October afternoon. The Cowboys have players from 21 states and one Canadian province. Yet it was Casey Bramlet from tiny Wheatland, WY, who played the role of star in this game. Bramlet threw for over 400 yards in the game. The Cowboys had just one win entering the big game with the Falcons. I thought with this victory and a couple more down the road, Coach Koenning could save his job. Since that win over the Academy, the Cowboys have lost two more games. Most followers of Cowboys football feel Koenning will be fired at the end of this season. Then it was on to Lincoln to watch the Huskers. During one five-year span during the 1980s heyday of the Huskers, I missed but a couple Husker home football games. It has been nearly a decade since I had set foot inside Memorial Stadium. Once again on a gorgeous fall afternoon, and flanked by the wife and MissingNebraska.com son enjoyed watching the Huskers beat the Kansas Jayhawks. After the lopsided loss to Kansas State, I wonder if the same fate awaits Coach Solich, as most likely does Coach Koenning. I do have to return to Lincoln next fall to watch the Huskers. There is not a better place to watch college football than in Lincoln, NE. And I do hope Coach Solich is on the Nebraska sideline as the head coach.
