By Jim (Babe) Berryman MissingNebraska.com Western Nebraska I wrote I would not listen to nor read the bashing of Husker football by Colorado media sources. I tried, but I didn't succeed. I was caught by surprise on a recent trip to Colorado for my wife's medical appointment. I was reading the Rocky Mountain News and came to the editorial page. A cartoon on the editorial page featured three individuals. One individual was unkempt, holding a sign saying the "The End of the World Is Near." A second individual queried, "Religious fanatic?" The third individual responded, "No, Husker fan." The Husker faithful are under attack. -- I attended a major league baseball game at Coors Field this summer. A young couple and their two boys sat in our area of the stadium. I estimated the cost for these four people to attend this game to be $144.50. This figure was close to the national average. USA Today reported the average cost for a couple and two children to attend a major league baseball game and to purchase "snacks" this past season was $145.20. Fenway Park in Boston was the most expensive, well over $220.00. -- What unicorporated town in Nebraska sells the most beer? The General Affairs Committee of the Nebraska Legislature heard on Tuesday the enormous amount of alcohol being sold in Whiteclay, NE. Four Whiteclay retailers sell an estimated four million cans of beer during one year. If my calculations are right, patrons purchase approximately 456 cases of beer each day for all 365 days of the year. Most of this beer is transported to the Pine Ridge Reservation which is dry. Since I've resided on an Indian Reservation, I should write my thoughts on issue sometime in the future.
