TO COORS FOR CUBS
Off to catch the highlight of the summer: The Cubs in Denver
By Jim (Babe) Berryman

On August 11th, the Berrymans will be accompanying neighbors to watch the Cubs play the Rockies in Denver. Since I have been a life-long Cub fan, this excursion will be one of the highlights of my summer.
Coors Field is a great place to watch baseball, especially when the Cubs are playing. I have watched major league baseball in nine ball parks and several spring training sites.
Wrigley Field in Chicago and Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City would be my top two choices. A Sunday afternoon in Wrigley, seated with the Bleacher Bums, or a Saturday night game in Kansas City with the waterworks beyond the center field fence, would rank at the top of my major league ball park list. Life doesn't get much better than that!
Coors Field would rank third. At the bottom of the list--Shea Stadium in the New York City suburb of Queens. Possibly I am too critical of my one-time experience at Shea. I believe every plane that left LaGuardia Airport that day (it seemed like one a minute) flew over the stadium gaining altitude. It also was a cold, blustery day, which didn't help in the enjoyment of the game.
I had an acquaintance tell me he was part of a group that witnessed major league baseball in five parks over a six-day span. Their excursion started in Kansas City on Friday night. On Saturday the group journeyed to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals. Then it was off to Chicago to catch the Cubs in a Sunday afternoon contest. Monday was an off-day. On Tuesday and Wednesday this group attended home games with the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. They arrived back in Nebraska on a Thursday.
Harold W. Andersen, retired publisher of the Omaha World-Herald, writes two columns for the World-Herald every week. He has mentioned his wife Marian loves her baseball. There are 30 teams playing major league baseball this summer. She has watched major league baseball games in 29 of these 30 ball parks. Where does she have a trip planned for later this summer? Pittsburgh.
Why Pittsburgh? To watch the Pirates play in their new ballpark. She will then be "batting" 100%. She has seen major league baseball in Pittsburgh, but not in the new ballpark. She is a true baseball afficionado.
What are your favorite parks to watch baseball?
