To many the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is one of the most interesting of all sporting events. In the games this weekend I am predicting Kentucky, Marquette, Arizona, Kansas, Connecticut, Maryland, Oklahoma and Syracuse. My upsets--Connecticut over Texas and Marquette over Pittsburgh. The Texas-Connecticut game is being played in San Antonio, but I have this feeling--Connecticut is coming on strong. Most fans would also say Marquette beating a Pittsburgh team would be considered an upset. Just a hunch. I would really like to see Butler win, even at the expense of the Big 12's Oklahoma. I suppose most basketball fans know that the Jayhawks' Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison played their high school basketball in Iowa. Both are sons of Iowa high school basketball coaches -- Jim Hinrich at Sioux City West and Dave Collison, formerly at Iowa Falls. -- Turning to Husker baseball. The Huskers are ranked 19th in the USA Today poll. Baylor and Texas are the only Big 12 teams ranked ahead of them. -- Over 100 hundred University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers fans chartered an airplane to Lakeland, Florida to attend the NCAA Division II Elite Eight tournament. The Lopers were defeated 94-75 by Northeastern State of Oklahoma in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Antelopes finish the season at 30-3. The finals are on Saturday. Other teams in the tournament are from the states of Massachusetts, Maryland, California, Kentucky, Florida, and North Carolina.
