EVERYTHING CAME UP ROSES FOR HUSKERS.
Nebraska narrowly edges Colorado for spot in Rose Bowl BCS Championship…Bring on Miami.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers must have friends in high places. In one of the most remarkable days of Nebraska sports in memory, the Nebraska Cornhuskers once again moved up in the BCS poll, and this is the BCS poll that matters. The final one. And once again, the Huskers hadn't even taken to the field. Huskers vs. Hurricanes in the Rose Bowl. This is great.
Never in a million years would I ever believe that the chain of events that needed to happen for the Huskers would eventually all happen. It was an amazing streak of luck. Husker fans were stunned and saddened after losing to Colorado. I bet you would not have been able to find anyone, even amongst the most hardcore of Husker faithful, that would say that Eric Crouch would go on to win the Heisman and Nebraska would still go to Pasadena to play Miami. Not one.
But it all happened, and now Nebraska is off to Pasadena for a shot at the Hurricanes, and more importantly a shot at redemption. In what I am sure will be a fiery frenzy of hype leading up to the big game, the Huskers will be hearing plenty of negative comments from pundits and fans from across the country, and right next door in Colorado as well. The final votes showed the following:
1. Miami 2.62 points
2. Nebraska 7.23 points
3. Colorado 7.28 points
4. Oregon 8.67 points
5. Florida 13.09 points
As can be seen, the margin separating NU and CU was so close you can understand Colorado’s frustration. So close to snagging a berth in the big game. But once again, the two losses killed Colorado, plain and simple. What if the Colorado vs. Texas games this season had been reversed? Colorado beats Texas mid season, then loses 41-7 in the rematch. These are the exact same results, yet would get more attention since it just happened at the end of the season. Yes, folks Texas beat Colorado 41-7. The season is a long one, Nebraska withstood the Colorado bandwagon effect and hung on for a trip to Pasadena! Party on!
