CROUCH TAKES CAMP.
Husker quarterback named Walter Camp Player of the Year, nabs Davy O'Brien honor too.
With the Heisman Trophy awards presentation upon us, there’s another reason Nebraskans and former Nebraskans are smiling today. And we think Eric Crouch just may have cracked a grin too. Today Crouch was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year. It was a super close vote, as Crouch edged Miami quarterback Rex Grossman by only two votes.
In addition to winning the Walter Camp award, Crouch also nabbed the Davy O'Brien Award, given to the nation's top quarterback. We congratulate Crouch on an outstanding season and for winning these awards.
But if there seems to be a bit of joy oozing from your computer screen right now, there are a few of us who are happier than others about Crouch winning the Walter Camp Player of the Year. Because even though we’re about as far away from Nebraska as you can get in New Haven, Connecticut...the dude is coming here!
On the MissingNebraska.com Message Boards, one member started a thread that attracted a lot of attention to the Walter Camp website, where visitors to the site could cast a vote. So we all feel a part of the award, and can’t believe Eric Crouch is coming to Connecticut. This is a huge deal and I’m sure many Huskers in Connecticut and the Connecticut Yankees for Nebraska will have details on how to get tickets. I have a connection, but can’t speak about it just yet, as I don’t want to jinx getting into the awards dinner. I’ll keep you posted. In the mean time, you may be interested in seeing that Eric Crouch was the subject of our local newspaper’s sports page today. So you can get a feel for the New Haven point of view on Eric Crouch. Way to go.
