AP & USA TODAY/ESPN POLLS PULL NO PUNCHES. BCS POLL PUNCHES OU.
Huskers are #2 or #1, depending on which one you want to believe. Sooners drop to #3 in BCS.

You don’t need a poll to tell you that if Nebraska wins the rest of its games, including the big bowl game, the Huskers will win the national championship. That’s how close we are. But still tough tests ahead in Kansas State in Lincoln, Colorado in Boulder, and a likely rematch with feisty Oklahoma on December 1st in the Big 12 Championship in Dallas.

The latest polls have been released, and in both the AP and USA Today/ESPN polls, the Huskers are #2. In the USA Today/ESPN poll NU received 18 first-place votes compared to 41 for #1 Miami. The Huskers are inching closer the Hurricanes trailing the point total by 1,479 to 1,456. Get much closer than that and you’ll have to pry the two teams off of each other.

In the Associated Press poll (AP), the Huskers are also second to Miami. The Hurricanes get 55 first-place votes to Nebraska’s 17. The Huskers are neck in neck with the Hurricanes on points, trailing 1,781-1,745.

In the Bowl Coalition poll released Monday, more fuel for the fire, as Miami jumps over and moves around Oklahoma into the number 2 spot. Both teams were big winners over the weekend. Let the debate begin.
