ON THE HUSKER MENU: TEXAS A&M AGGIES
Huskers still searching for first road win of season in College Station

The Nebraska football team is in unfamiliar territory.
No, the Huskers have visited College Station, Texas before. This is a different kind of unfamiliar.
The Huskers are 5-3 (1-2) heading into Saturday night’s game with Texas A&M 5-2 (2-1). Big Red risks dropping to 1-3 in the Big 12 conference for the first time…well…ever. That right there is about as unfamiliar a situation you’re going to find when it comes to Husker football.
The game kicks off at 6 PM Central on Saturday, October 26 and will be televised nationally by TBS.
The beleaguered Huskers are in a must-win situation. If NU wishes to have any shot at winning the Big 12 North, they must pull off the upset in College Station.
Once again, this is unfamiliar territory. Did I say “pull off the upset at College Station”? Never heard that one before.
Goes to show you how wonderful it has been being a Husker fan for the past three decades. Who can remember a time when Texas A&M was the favorite over Nebraska, even in College Station?
But that’s the situation as we approach game day. The two teams match up well on paper, the question is, which Husker team will come to play?
If it’s the team that seems to want to give the game away to the opponent by racking up penalties, sputtering on offense, and allowing big plays on defense, it’s going to be a long night. If NU could happen to get things together and start clicking on the field, it should be an interesting, entertaining game.
Texas A&M has victories over Louisiana Lafayette, Pittsburgh on the road, Louisiana Tech, Baylor, and Kansas.
In the loss column, A&M lost by 10 points to nationally ranked Virginia Tech at home and had a one-point setback at home to bitter rival Texas Tech in wild shootout.
So not a tough-as-nails schedule, but not all that shabby either.
Both Nebraska and Texas A&M have similar numbers in total offense and scoring defense. The Huskers have better numbers in rushing offense, and the Aggies win the passing comparison.
But the road has been a lonely place for Big Red. The Huskers will try once again to get a win on the road. If it happens, many have said that a road win would get the “monkey off their backs”, give them some much-needed confidence, and things could turn around.
If not, it’s going to be another long week for Coach Solich and the boys as they prepare for a big-league match up with Texas the following weekend in Lincoln.
So the mighty Huskers are underdogs once more. We wish them well in this unfamiliar territory.
