October 24, 2004 FLAT VS. 'CATS Another rough day for Huskers as K-State cruises to 3rd straight win over Nebraska 45-21 By Jim D. Berryman MissingNebraska.com Huskers fans are learning how to handle it better with each passing week. You could say we're getting to be old pros. How to handle a losing Saturday afternoon. Back in the Husker glory days, losing days came few and far between. When they happened, shock and dismay swept across the state. Times are different now. Ho hum. Huskers lose again. Final score: Kansas State 45 Nebraska 21. Well at least the other team didn't score 70. The Huskers drop to 4-3 (2-2). Kansas State ups its record to 3-4 (1-3). Despite being unable to stop the Wildcat offense in the first half, the Huskers hung tough. They stayed around, giving Husker fans hope that perhaps there would be an upset in Manhattan. After all, Big Red trailed just 24-21 early in the 3rd quarter. Then the turnovers started happening. The Wildcats pounced. Nebraska folded. The Huskers lose a third straight game to Kansas State. The loss to KSU is tough to take, but seeing how the Big 12 North is down this year, the Huskers are still not out of the Big 12 North race. If the Huskers bounce back vs. Missouri in Lincoln on October 30, the scenario is rosier. Lose to the Tigers, and a bowl bid is in question. Strange season indeed. The Huskers and Tigers kick it off at 11:00 a.m. central. The game will be televised regionally by Fox Sports Net.
