BIG GAME IN LITTLE APPLE
Must-win game for Nebraska, Kansas St. in battle of pride, Big 12 North

Even though the folks at ABC Sports decided the Nebraska-Kansas State game on Saturday is not TV-worthy, the game is very big in many ways.
Just ask the red folks in Lincoln and the purple ones in Manhattan.
After a decade or more of Husker-Wildcat TV broadcasts, the teams this season enter the Big Game in the Little Apple not looking like the teams we all know and love.
And love to hate.
It is just not the same when Nebraska enters the game at 4-2, (2-1) and Kansas State, a team ranked in the top 15 at the beginning of the season, comes in limping at 2-4, (0-3). Neither team is ranked...not even receiving votes for that matter. Nebraska had a 60-point loss a couple weeks ago. The Wildcats are winless in the Big 12.
A person can certainly understand ABC's decision not to show the game.
So, the NU-KSU game is not on the tube. But even so, the game in Manhattan is huge for both teams.
Nebraska wants revenge for last season's home loss debacle to the Wildcats. NU has a new coach and new offense to add to the rivarly mix.
Question is, will Nebraska be able to execute well on the road against the best 2-4 team in the nation? In a hostile environment? Could be tough, especially seeing how Kansas State played no. 2 Oklahoma tough last week in Manhattan.
Kansas State wants to avoid dropping to 2-5...a shocking record considering how rave the reviews of the pre-season Wildcats. Beating Nebraska would be a smile in a long season of disappointing losses.
So for those not lucky enough to nab a ticket to the game, and living outside earshot of a Pinnacle Sports radio affiliate, it's live audio on the Internet. Geez. No offense to the Pinnacle Sports Network, but listening online just doesn't have the same appeal as listening on the radio. TV beats both by a lot of miles.
If Nebraska quarterback Joe Dailey is turnover-free once again, Nebraska has a more-than-good chance of winning. That despite being 5-point underdog at the time this article was posted. (10-20-04)
Kansas State and its purple-clad fans will be rowdy and vocal. Unless the Huskers take 'em out of it early.
A victory for Nebraska would be huge as the Huskers would be in a tie with Mizzou, possibly even leading the Big 12 North, when the Tigers come calling on October 30.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. central. You can listen to live audio and see live stats of the game at huskers.com.
