BLACKSHIRTS BOUNCE AGGIES
Huskers force 8 turnovers, cruise past Texas A&M 48-12

There were more turnovers at Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon than a busy day at the Dolly Madison bakery.
The Texas A&M Aggies never tasted so good.
The Nebraska defense forced a school record eight turnovers against Texas A&M and rolled to an easy 48-12 win. The Huskers, unlike the previous week in Columbia, didn’t turn the ball over once.
The Huskers improved to 6-1, 2-1. Texas A&M slipped to 3-4, 1-2.
Nebraska quarterback Jammal Lord ran for two touchdowns and rushed for 109 yards in the victory.
It was an impressive bounce-back for the Huskers from the Missouri loss. No doubt a week of negative comments hurled at the Blackshirts’ regarding their 4th quarter performance in Columbia, coupled with the bad press received from Husker Kellon Huston’s decking of a Missouri fan, helped Big Red to step up in a big way.
At the same time, without the turnovers, the game was much closer than the final score on the scoreboard. At halftime, the Huskers had just two more yards of total offense than the Aggies and despite rushing for 333 yards, the Huskers managed just 51 yards by air.
It’s all about the “D”, like it has been all season.
The Nebraska Blackshirts, after stumbling in Columbia, held the Aggies to a season-low 244 yards of total offense. It was a punishing performance by the Husker defense, mostly directed at beleaguered A&M QB Reggie McNeal.
And how about those turnovers? Eight of them. No team is going to win a game with eight turnovers. Sure the Husker defense forced the turnovers, but Big Red fans will find it difficult to find another team on the Husker schedule that will give away the ball eight times in one game. The NU offense still has a ways to go before they march into Austin and knock off the Longhorns.
First things first, however. Iowa State blows into Lincoln Saturday for an 11:40 a.m. CDT kickoff with the Huskers. Even though the Cyclones are struggling this season, it will be another chance for Nebraska to avenge a loss from last season. It will also be a chance for Big Red to match the total number of wins from last season. The Cyclones can’t be very excited about their prospects.
The NU-ISU game will be shown on pay-per-view for $29.95. Check the Huskers official web site for details on how to order.
Until then, Husker fans can savor every single bite of those delicious Aggie turnovers.
