RAIN-DRENCHED FUMBLERAMA IN WACO!
Despite turnovers, Huskers rack up big yardage in 48-7 win over Baylor.

If ABC commentator Keith Jackson were doing the call on Saturday’s Nebraska-Baylor game, his trademark “Fuuummmmbbbblllllleee” would have come in very handy in the first half. Woah nelly! Despite five Husker fumbles, including NU Quarterback Eric Crouch fumbling in his own end zone to set up the only Baylor TD, the Huskers improved to 7-0 with a 48-7 victory over the Baylor Bears. The game was marked by heavy rain, wind, and lightning and was delayed for about 30 minutes in the 2nd quarter because of lightning in and around Waco. The Husker-Bear contest was the tale of two games, one in each half. In the first half, the rain-soaked Huskers couldn’t get a handle on the ball and seemed to fumble every time they got the ball. Luckily, the Husker defense didn’t allow Baylor to do much of anything. Nebraska only led 14-7 at halftime, and Husker fans coast to coast were grumbling. But in the second half, the grumbling turned to cheers when a different set of floodgates opened. The Nebraska offense went to work, racking up a slew of second-half yards, to give them 641 total rushing yards for the game. Eric Crouch broke his own QB rushing touchdown record…again. Plus, four Nebraska players had over 100 yards rushing, another Husker first: They are: Eric Crouch, Thunder Collins, Dahrran Diedrick, and fullback Judd Davies. So, a commanding second half performance by the Huskers after a soggy, scary first. Nebraska plays host to Texas Tech as it celebrates Homecoming this Saturday night in Lincoln.
