WILD OR MILD?
Kansas State is next, Huskers hope to tame 'Cats in Manhattan

For Nebraska, the road to the Big 12 North title goes through Manhattan this Saturday.

It's the game that has settled the Big 12 North championship in seasons past.

But things have changed a bit.

Nebraska seems to be on the way up. Kansas State started slow, after a tough couple of seasons recently, but the 'Cats seemed to have turned the corner a bit over the past couple weeks.

Still, what the Huskers will face at Kansas State this season is not a given by any means.

For that matter, what the Wildcats will face in Nebraska is no given either.

This game is a tough one to figure out.

Too bad Husker and Wildcat fans have to shuck out $29.95 to find out on TV, an unusual pay-per-view game between the the two teams, when it's usually on free TV.

Kansas State seems to be on the right track, coming into the game at 4-2 (1-1 Big 12), after a come-from-behind win over Oklahoma State at home last weekend.

Then again, a win over the Cowboys at home is really not all that impressive, with Oklahoma State lurking in the basement of the Big 12 South.  KSU's other loss was a blowout home loss to then Number 8 Louisville.

Nebraska is 5-1 (2-0 Big 12) and ranked Number 20/21 in national polls.  The Huskers are coming off a solid offensive and defensive performance against Iowa State on the road, even though the men in zebra stripes made a couple questionable calls against the Cyclones that could have made the game much closer than it was.

Hard as it is to believe, Nebraska hasn't won in Manhattan since 1996. That's right, it's been 10 years since Big Red came away with a victory in the Little Apple.

So this year's game between Nebraska and Kansas State should be a good one.
Too bad the network TV powers-that-be didn't see this game as attractive as others in the Big 12 this week to show on regular TV. Therefore, it's on Fox Sports Net pay-per-view.
