TOUGH TASK AT TECH
Huskers face nation's top passer, national TV audience vs. Texas Tech
By Jim D. Berryman
MissingNebraska.com
The underdog Nebraska Cornhuskers head south to Lubbock this Saturday for a match up with Texas Tech.
That’s right…underdog.
What’s wrong with this picture?
For one, the Nebraska offense. One headline in a Nebraska newspaper referred to the Husker “O” after the Kansas game as offensive. Not sure if that description is completely in order. 'Struggling' would be appropriate.
Texas Tech (3-2, 1-1) is a 7-point favorite to win at home against Nebraska (3-1, 1-0). As a matter of fact, the Red Raiders seem ripe to roll against Big Red.
Led by quarterback Sonny Cumbie, the nation’s leading passer, Texas Tech was no pushover in their loss at Oklahoma last week. In the 28-13 setback, Cumbie passed for 369 yards against the mighty Sooners.
The NU Blackshirts seem to be the more consistent than the Husker offense, so hopefully they’ll be able to keep Cumbie and his receivers in check.
At the same time, Nebraska quarterback Joe Dailey has got to keep turnovers in check, or the Huskers will be heading back north to Lincoln with another “L” tacked onto its record.
The game kicks off at about 6 p.m. central and will be televised nationally by TBS Superstation. Live stats and live audio of the game can be found on huskers.com.
