MOMENTUM & MEMORIES
Huskers flying high into Big 12 opener with Kansas; last season's
game surely a factor

I remember it well. I was raking leaves in the back yard on a sunny,
warm autumn day in New England, when I had to put my rake aside and
sit down, to make sure I was hearing what I was hearing.
It was coming out of the speaker I had propped up in the upstairs
window. Can't get the Huskers on the radio without a computer in
these parts.
Kansas was blowing out Nebraska?
Yes, that's what I was hearing. A real shock to the system. The
leaves didn't all get raked that day.
I remember looking forward to the game the following year (this
Saturday, 09-30-06). I wanted to erase the memory of what I had just
heard.
Nebraska hosts longtime rival Kansas in Lincoln this Saturday night.
Both teams come into the game at 3-1. Nebraska is ranked Number 21
in both major polls.
(See game time / TV / Audio details below)
Kansas is a tough one to figure out right now. A loss at Toledo is
nothing to brag about. Even so, some had KU as high as 2nd in Big 12
North pre-season standings.
Nebraska had a balanced, "Lucky" attack last Saturday vs. Troy. The
Huskers dominated the Trojans.
On the highlight reel, last week's game vs. Troy looked like the
Nebraska of old, meaning the Huskers seemed to make big plays with
ease.
Still, it was Troy, even though the Trojans had close games with
Florida State and Georgia Tech leading up to Nebraska.
If the Cornhuskers present a balanced attack similar to all games
this season except USC, Kansas will face a major challenge to even
stay close to the Huskers.
I see a Husker blowout over the Jayhawks. I don't think it's going
to be pretty at all for those wearing blue. Last year's shocker in
Lawrence will all but be erased after Saturday night.
But this is Big 12 Season! Anything can happen. Usually
does.
Here's hoping that what usually does happen when the Jayhawks line
up against the Huskers, happens this Saturday in Lincoln.
In case you have a really short memory, that means a win.
The game kicks off at about 6:10 p.m. central. It will be televised
in most areas of the country by Fox Sports Net. (Check local
listings).
The Pinnacle Sports Radio Network will have live coverage on a
number of Nebraska radio stations and a few in other parts of the
country.
