Huskers-Cyclones game has different look than before the
season started

Nebraska kicks off its Big 12
conference season this Saturday, hosting Iowa State.
Recent developments, like the Ball State game last weekend, have
many Husker fans and others around the country scratching their
heads as to what is up...or down...with the NU defense this season.
Nebraska's "D" hopes to shut down the Cyclones, and get back on
track, cooling the criticism coming fast and furious from all
directions in Huskerland.
Iowa State comes into the game at 1-3, its lone victory over
in-state rival Iowa.
The Huskers are 3-1, and ranked Nos. 22 and 25 in the two major
polls.
Before the season started, Iowa State was projected to finish last
in the Big 12 North, so the match up with the Cyclones looked like a
nice "gimme" game, during one of the toughest Husker schedules in
recent memory.
Then again, before the season
started, the Ball State game looked like a "gimme", and we know what
transpired last Saturday in Lincoln. A shocking, come-from-behind
41-40 win for Nebraska, that wouldn't have happened without a missed
Ball State last-second field goal.
Before the season started, it would be safe to say that not one
person would have expected the Cardinals to run and pass for 610
yards of total offense against the Nebraska defense.
Before the season started, a lot of things looked a lot different
than they do right now.
So, does the defense show up to play this Saturday? Husker fans
certainly hope so.
After a date with Iowa State Saturday, things get much tougher for
Big Red, as Nebraska travels to Missouri for a Big 12 North showdown
with the Tigers.
So hopefully, it will be a game where the boo birds stay quiet and
the Huskers come to play.
The Nebraska-Iowa State game will not be televised. Kickoff is
slated for 1:05 p.m. Central.
