Southern Miss opens season in Lincoln vs. high-flying Huskers
By Jim D. Berryman
MissingNebraska.com
Fresh off a 56-17 victory over Western Illinois last Saturday night, Nebraska will try to stay fresh for all four quarters of the game this Saturday afternoon vs. Southern Mississippi.
If the Huskers do, it could be a long day for the Golden Eagles.
Nebraska, led by quarterback Joe Dailey, was sensational in the first half against Western Illinois last Saturday, but stumbled in the second half when Dailey seemed to want to give the ball to the Leathernecks more than his own Husker teammates.
It will be the season-opener for Southern Miss, a team Nebraska defeated in Hattiesburg, MS last season 38-14. Nebraska is 1-0 after the win over Western Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. central.
The game will be shown on ABC Regional television. ABC Coverage Map
