Husker offense comes alive in 44-13 win over Utah St.

It was a warm, breezy evening in Lincoln Saturday, but the wind wasn’t the only thing blowing through Memorial Stadium. The Cornhusker offense came blowing though too.

The breeze was a welcome relief from the heat. The scorching 90 degree heat of late summer in the plains…and the heat from many Husker faithful, many of who have been anything but kind in comments about the Husker offense this season.

Nebraska got on track against an outmatched Utah State team. Final score: Nebraska 44 Utah State 13.

The Husker offense got on track really for the first time this season. Things clicked. Lord looked confident. The Huskers were able to move the ball. Husker quarterback Jammal Lord led the way. Lord scored four first half touchdowns…two on the ground and two through the air.

Husker receiver Matt Herian caught a 33 yard touchdown pass from Lord in the second quarter. The man with great hands and amazing speed is a favorite of Pinnacle Sports Network announcers. One to watch. We were watching. Or listening. And we liked what we heard.

Despite giving up an early second quarter touchdown that brought the Aggies back to within 17-7, the Husker Blackshirts were too big a challenge for Utah St. The Aggies were coming off a loss to Utah, and the Big Red was a big headache for them.

Husker DeJuan Groce continued his special teams magic. He intercepted two passes, to add to his achievements of the young season.

Nebraska is now 3-0 and got a much-needed warm up for Penn St. The Huskers travel to State College, PA this Saturday for a showdown with Penn State at Happy Valley.
