TWO & TWO = 2 & 0
Groce’s two interceptions, two punt returns for TDs puts NU at 2-0

The Nebraska Cornhuskers once again did what they had to do to win Saturday night against Troy State. Final score NU 31 Troy St. 16.
But how the Huskers did it is the big story. DeJuan Groce is a big reason the Huskers are 2-0.
Groce returned two punt returns for touchdowns, one for 83 yards, one for 72. Add to that two interceptions and you have a standout performance from the senior cornerback. To say that Troy State got a little tired of seeing #5 streak past their eyes is an understatement.
The Husker offense was anything but sharp, but sharp enough to put together two impressive touchdown drives in the second half to give the Huskers their 23rd straight home victory, the nation’s longest home winning streak. However, in the yardage department, the Trojans out-gained the Huskers 347-313. Without Groce’s returns it was a whole different game.
Nebraska quarterback Jammal Lord finished with 23 rushing carries for 92 yards. He passed 15 times, completing 8 with one interception. Total Lord yards through the air: 114. Lord can be credited for engineering a third quarter touchdown drive after the Trojans scored to come as close as 14-10 early in the second half.
But the Huskers got the W and that’s what matters right now. Down the road, the Husker offense will have to step it up a notch. Opponents like Penn State and Iowa State, both winners on Saturday, will not be so forgiving.
In addition, Nebraska I-Back Thunder Collins was suspended for the game, however was seen running into the stadium in his street clothes with Husker coach Frank Solich at the beginning of the game. The Husker coach gave no explanation as to why Collins was not playing and said the suspension could go beyond this one game.
The game was played in front of a sell out crowd at Memorial Stadium. However, Husker fans in Nebraska and all over the world who were not inside the stadium had difficulties in hearing or seeing the Big Red.
Yahoo’s internet audio broadcast was nowhere to be found for much of the game, and people who paid fees to “watch” the game through a new Husker web site and Fox Sports reported numerous glitches and a jumpy picture at best.
Hopefully the technology glitches will get worked out before Nebraska plays host to Utah State this Saturday in Lincoln. We’re hoping the Husker offense can overcome a few glitches as well.
